Getting You Back to What You Love Doing

I’ve had people ask me “how do you do it all?” I’ve completed three Master’s degrees (2 in physiotherapy!), given birth to three children in 4 yrs (no twins), and previously co-owned a large sports medicine clinic. I’ve run a few marathons, love lifting weights and have been described as the ‘energizer bunny’.

Sounds “Successful” Right?

I’ve also had numerous sports related injuries, postpartum pelvic floor challenges, and felt exhausted & overwhelmed at the same time. I understand what it is like to be faced with obstacles & not always feel balanced.

Everyone’s experiences, paths and needs are different.

Through my own journey, one thing that has remained clear is that
I am fuelled by helping & empowering others to live their best active life.

Hey, I’m Liz.

I help people like you recover from injury so you can live your best active life.

I hold three Master’s degrees and have completed numerous postgraduate courses in physiotherapy. I’m a Fellow of the Academy of Manual & Manipulative Physical Therapists (FCAMPT), a pelvic health Physiotherapist, an instructor for RockTape Canada and a mentor with the University of Toronto Physiotherapy Program.

My greatest professional achievements aren’t the letters that follow my name on my business card; they are all of the clients I’ve helped over my 15+ yr career.

I pride myself in my ability to listen & connect with you in order to fully understand your condition and goals. I use a combination of manual therapy, tape, tools, personalized exercise programs , acupuncture, and intramuscular stimulation (IMS) to set you on the path to recovery. I support, progress and teach you self-management strategies to ensure you not only recover but become stronger in the process.

2 Focuses: Orthopaedic & Pelvic Health Physiotherapy

ORTHOPAEDIC PHYSIOTHERAPY

From day one of my Master’s of Physiotherapy I knew my strength was working in orthopaedics. Put simply, I “nerd-out” when it comes to anatomy and the human body. I’ve achieved the highest level of training in orthopaedic manual physiotherapy with the designation of Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manual & Manipulative Therapy (FCAMPT). I’ve also completed the McMaster Contemporary Acupuncture program as well as UBC’s GUNN Intramuscular Stimulation training. I’m also an instructor with RockTape Canada. I am committed to staying current in our constantly evolving profession.
I also support the University of Toronto Physical Therapy Department as a clinical instructor and am a mentor with the Orthopaedic Division’s manual therapy training program, providing mentorship to physiotherapists pursuing their advanced manual therapy designation.

PELVIC HEALTH PHYSIOTHERAPY

After giving birth to my first child I realized the challenges many women face both during pregnancy & postpartum. Fast forward 12 + yrs…I have 3 beautiful children, I’m in my 40’s, I run and lift weights regularly. I’ve completed numerous pelvic health courses, I’ve immersed myself in research and I’ve presented at numerous conferences. My pelvic health practice blends my extensive orhtopaedic background knowledge with my pelvic health expertise to specifically support women from pregnancy through menopause and any pelvic health issues along the way. I am committed to getting women back to the activities they enjoy; safely, pain free, leak free, with less prolapse & diastatis rectus.

My Approach

We start with a comprehensive 1:1 assessment where I look at you as a whole person (not just the injury or condition) and we set attainable goals. I establish the root cause of your condition and create a treatment program that will help you not only recover but prevent re-injury.
My treatments include a combination of hands-on therapy, acupuncture, kinesiology tape, cupping and specific exercises that compliment your stage of recovery. I also place emphasis on teaching you about your condition and empowering you with self-management strategies.
My ultimate goal is to see you back doing the activities you enjoy feeling strong and confident!

Physiotherapy

Let’s get you moving!

I practice a variety of techniques including manual therapy, acupuncture, cupping, instruments/tools and soft tissue mobility depending on your needs. I also almost always prescribe exercises that compliment the therapy provided and push for progress for our next session.

Pelvic Health Physiotherapy

I blend my personal experience with knowledge from the numerous pelvic floor and core courses I’ve taken, developed and taught over the past decade. My pelvic health practice also marries my orthopaedic practice for a “whole person” approach.

Acupuncture & IMS

ACUPUNCTURE is a fantastic treatment option to target the nervous system - the wiring system of the body. I use both points along traditional meridians as well as anatomical landmarks targeting specific areas of your body to address your area of concern.

GUNN IMS is a dry needling technique aimed at treating unhealthy or dysfunctional nerves, which can cause pain. This assessment and treatment style is best suited for people who have chronic or longstanding pain where standard physiotherapy treatment only offers short term results.
